Title:  Project Controls Manager

Reports to:  VP – Engineering and Technical Services

Direct Reports:  None

Status:  Full-time, Exempt; expected to occasionally work long and irregular hours.

Work Location:  Position based out of Tulsa, OK with travel to the field office in Bloomfield, NM and others as necessary.

Compensation:  Salary commensurate with experience. Full-time, exempt position with benefits. Position is bonus eligible.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Whiptail Midstream is currently looking for a highly skilled Project Controls Mangaer. This position is responsible for tracking and reporting of capital projects through financial and physical progress forecasts for various oil, gas, and water midstream projects in connection with the Company’s San Juan Basin gathering system and any other potential assets that the Company may develop or acquire. As a Project Controls Manager, you will be responsible for evaluation of major capital projects before, during, and after their completion.

Essential Functions

  • Development and ongoing monitoring of key metrics for project reporting.
  • Design and maintain E&C group tracking dashboard.
  • Work with Project Managers to report on individual project statuses and overall capital project plan progress.
  • Prepare and distribute project progress reports and proactively notify project stakeholders with issues and resolutions.
  • Analyze and prepare monthly and quarterly reporting of performance versus plan, forecast and actual results.
  • Assist in development and optimization of company AFE process including initial budgeting, budget revisions, and project close outs.
  • Assist in E&C group’s adoption of new accounting system .
  • Research, analyze, and gather information to support various technical activities and trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects’ financial and physical progress using formal project tracking and reporting techniques.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well as a capacity for learning and utilizing Company specific software as needed.
  • Organized; able to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks and projects effectively.
  • Professional attitude and ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
  • Able to work independently without regular direct supervision.
  • Internally motivated to start tasks and projects and committed to follow them until completion.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a technical field and a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in accounting, financial analysis & planning, engineering or technical role.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a technical field and a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in accounting, financial analysis & planning, engineering or technical role.
  • Specific work experience in Project Controls and Project Management accountable to Engineering, Finance & Accounting, or Business Unit groups.
